Alaskan Malamute
Mountain West Dog Fanciers
A Guide to all things "DOG" in the Western Mountain States

Basic Description: The Alaskan Malamute is the oldest dog breed native to Alaska. He bears the name of the Eskimo tribe, the Malemiuts, and is
best known for his talents as a sled dog. His big boned and powerful body enables him to pull weights up to 2,000 pounds. His coat is a
combination of woolly undercoat and long, hard guard hairs that protect him from the harsh temperatures of his native surroundings. For a very
good history and complete description of the Alaskan Malamute please visit this site
