Bernese Mountain Dog
Mountain West Dog Fanciers
A Guide to all things "DOG" in the Western Mountain States

Basic Description:  The Bernese Mountain Dog is a striking, tri-colored, large dog. They are intelligent, strong and agile enough to do the draft
and droving work for which they were originally used on farms in Switzerland. By nature, Berners are gentle, easygoing, affectionate, alert and
tolerant; usually excellent with children. They require considerable human companionship as full members of their families. In return they are highly
versatile, many enjoying competition in conformation, obedience, agility, tracking, herding and carting with their human companions. Berners also
make wonderful therapy dogs bringing cheer to others.
