Basic Description: The Flat Coated Retriever was developed in England about 80 years ago, but strange to relate, it’s fore bearers are
known to have been North American dogs, namely the St. John’s Newfoundland and the Labrador. As a breed, it was brought to this country
many years ago, but has remained quite rare on this side of the sea. Like his brother retrievers, the Flat Coat is a very proficient water
retriever, and is equally good on pheasant and other kinds of feathered game.
